5 Key issues to be addressed during 2008



1    Increase ICE membership in South Africa by:
    -   informing SAICE members, particularly those members of the joint division who are not ICE members, of the  benefits, discounts offered and routes to ICE  membership 
    - informing civil engineering university students of ICE’s offer for free student membership
    - extend the mutual exemption agreement between  SAICE, ECSA and ICE to cover technician and incorporated membership so that they can be registered  with ECUK as EngTech and IEng,  respectively.


2    Establish regular technical meetings of the Division to provide learned society services to members in Johannesburg / Pretoria area


3    Populate the Joint Civil Division’s website with information of interest to members

4    Launch the NEC3 Supply and Short Term Service Contracts in South Africa

5    Introduce CESSM3 (Civil Engineering Standard System of Measurement) into South African practice
